The University of Arizona quartet of Blake Eichler, Pete Lauderdale II, Bryce Houston and Miles Parish qualified for the NCAA Championships by finishing sixth at the West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas, on Saturday.
The foursome set a school mark with a time of 3 minutes, 4.51 seconds in the 4x400-meter relay. The previous UA mark was 3:05.81.
"It's been a long time coming," said UA coach Fred Harvey. "They've been running consistently all year long in the 3:07, 3:06 area. We definitely knew that they had the potential to run faster and break the school record."
The Wildcats are sending eight entries to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 10-13.
