Arizona softball had 16 run-rule wins at Hillenbrand Stadium in the regular season. Saturday’s game vs. Ole Miss had the makings of another but, as it turns out, the postseason is a whole different animal.
The Rebels nearly erased an eight-run deficit before the Wildcats pulled away for a 12-6 win on Saturday to put them in Sunday’s Tucson Regional final.
They will face Ole Miss, Villanova or UMBC in the regional final on Sunday, needing one more win to advance to Super Regionals.
Thanks in part to a two-run homer by Dejah Mulipola, who went yard twice, the Wildcats scored four runs in the sixth to finally end the Rebels’ comeback bid.
