Arizona Softball Drops Game One Against UCLA

UCLA appeared in control of the game from the start, even though the Wildcats came back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the third. The Bruins showed much more patience at the plate than Arizona from the first pitch.

Junior pitcher Danielle O’Toole held UCLA scoreless in the first inning, but it took 22 pitches to accomplish that. O’Toole went over 100 pitches in the 5th inning when the Bruins tied the score at 4-4.

In the 6th inning, UCLA loaded the bases. Coach Mike Candrea had been warming up three pitchers and ultimately chose day two starter, Taylor McQuillin to come in in relief.
