Arizona Wildcats guard Allonzo Trier was declared ineligible Thursday after testing positive for a banned substance.
The announcement was made a few hours before Arizona’s game against the Oregon State Beavers, so when the rest of the Wildcats took the court for warmups, they had a message for the NCAA — on their shoes.
“Free Zo,” a few UA players wrote on their kicks.
Trier still traveled with the team to Oregon, and was on the bench during the game. Arizona has appealed the NCAA’s ruling, and is hopeful the guard will return to the lineup soon.
