The 2015 college football season is still nearly two months away, but Scooby Wright has already done something he didn't do last year.
Wright, the UA's junior All-America linebacker, was named to the 80-player Chuck Bednarik Award watch list early Tuesday morning. He was joined by senior safety Will Parks.
Wright, who ended up winning the award last season, wasn't on the preseason watch list released last June. This year, the 6-foot-1-inch, 246-pound linebacker, headlines it.
The linebacker, who also won the Lombardi and Nagurski awards last year, was the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and had 163 tackles, 29 tackles-for-loss and 14 sacks.
