Baseball’s famed “Big Unit” attended Saturday’s game between the UA and Oregon State decked out in a fraternity shirt. Johnson’s son, Tanner, is a criminal justice major at the UA.
The 6-foot-10-inch Hall of Famer is a towering figure, but he may not be the biggest star — heck, even the biggest former Seattle Mariner — to send a kid to the UA. Ken Griffey Jr., a UA season-ticket holder, is father to Trey — a receiver on the Wildcats’ roster — and Taryn, a member of the UA’s women’s basketball team.
