Arizona baseball sweeps Opening Day doubleheader vs. Bryant

Arizona baseball swept an opening day doubleheader over Bryant on Saturday to get its season started in the right direction.

The Wildcats’ season opener was originally scheduled for Friday night, but a rain storm postponed the game until Saturday afternoon.

Arizona came out strong with a 4-0 win behind seven shutout innings from ace Cody Deason in game on.

Bryant kept Arizona’s lineup in check for most the afternoon – Bryant actually outhit the Wildcats 5-4 – until sophomore Cameron Cannon broke through with an RBI single in the fifth.

Arizona added three insurance runs in the eighth inning off a Cal Stevenson RBI single and a two-run single from Alfonso Rivas.
