Arizona baseball: Johnson announces hiring of assistant coaches

New Arizona baseball coach Jay Johnson announced the hiring of assistant coaches Dave Lawn and Sergio Brown on Thursday.

The Daily Star reported the hiring of both last month.

Lawn, who has been with Johnson the past two years at Nevada, will serve as Arizona’s pitching coach. Lawn has 17 years of Pac-12 coaching experience, spending 10 seasons at Cal (1991-2000) and seven at USC (2001-07). He has coached 22 future Major League Baseball players, including Mark Prior, the 2001 Golden Spikes Award winner at USC.

“Dave is one of the elite pitching coaches in the country,” Johnson said in a release.
