SEATTLE – Entering this weekend, Lorenzo Romar hadn’t had a chance to process it yet.
Returning to Alaska Airlines Arena, where he had coached for 15 seasons, leading Washington to six NCAA Tournaments, establishing himself as one of the Pac-12’s more likable head coaches.
He admitted:
It’s weird.
Last March, Washington fired Romar after the program had stalled, missing six consecutive NCAA Tournaments. A month later, Romar joined Sean Miller’s staff at Arizona, taking an “I’m here to help” approach, one that takes on greater significance in Saturday’s contest at Washington.
No. 9 Arizona (19-4 and 9-1 in the Pac-12) has won seven in a row and sits in first place in the Pac-12.
