Preseason games are one thing, especially in the WNBA where many players aren’t even back from their overseas seasons to take part in camp. The regular season is a completely different animal as former Arizona star Aari McDonald and her Atlanta Dream teammates saw on Friday night.
The Connecticut Sun defeated the Dream 78-67 in the season opener. The Sun, who got to the semifinals of last year’s WNBA playoffs, led by as many as 20.
“I like this team, but this is a team that’s gonna be a work in progress,” Atlanta head coach Mike Petersen said.
