KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Up 3-1 against No. 30 Wake Forest in the NCAA Tournament opener, the Sun Devils couldn't put away the Demon Deacons, falling 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.
Wake Forest rallied and grabbed wins on Courts 2, 4 and 6 to send the Sun Devils back to Tempe. It halts a streak of three consecutive NCAA Tournaments in which they've advanced beyond the First Round (no tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19 cancellation).
The Sun Devils began the afternoon in an early 1-0 hole, due to a pair of Demon Deacon doubles victories on Courts 1 and 2.
