Washington State volleyball completes sweep over ASU

Arizona State volleyball again had trouble with Washington State’s middle attack and blocking Saturday, falling 3-1 at Desert Financial Arena.

Washington State (3-1) had a 15-5 edge in total blocks and middle blocker Magda Jehlarova among others scored often out of the center. The 6-3 Jehlarova had 11 kills on .526 hitting and 3.5 blocks. Kalyah Williams each had 12 kills and Pia Timmer 10.

Like in a 3-2 loss Thursday, ASU (1-3) won the opening set but could not complete the job. The Cougars won 3-1 in the second meeting, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-19.

ASU made two lineup changes Saturday, using transfer Maddie McLaughlin as a left-side hitter and Paige Denton at libero.
