STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 15 Sun Devil Wrestling (3-2, 0-1) was stymied by Big 12 Conference foe No. 4 Oklahoma State (4-0, 3-0), falling 33-6 in Sunday's dual in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Jesse Vasquez and Nicco Ruiz provided the scoring for the Sun Devils with a pair of big wins. Vasquez downed #18 Carter Young, 9-7, for his second top-20 win on the season, while Ruiz's sudden-victory win against #6 Cameron Amine was the highest-ranked win of his career.
Competing in their first conference dual match as members of the Big 12, the Sun Devils began their bout with the Cowboys at the heavyweight position with a top-five showdown between Cohlton Schultz and Wyatt Hendrickson.
