Arizona State is taking another shot with a football/baseball recruit from Louisiana.
Blake Shapen of Shreveport, La., committed to ASU on Saturday with intentions of playing quarterback and infield, a dual-sport opportunity offered during recruiting and his recent visit in Tempe.
Shapen, 6-0, 183 pounds, is ASU's ninth known commitment in the 2020 football recruiting class. He follows the 2019 quarterback haul of Jayden Daniels, Ethan Long and Joey Yellen.
Shapen, of Evangel Christian Academy, is considered a national recruit in baseball and could be a 2020 major league draft pick, meaning he would have to decide on college over pro baseball.
