EUGENE, Ore.—Arizona State track and field’s redshirt senior high jumper Bryan McBride was named the 2015 USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Monday.
A native of Peoria, Ariz., McBride will be the only athlete in at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 10-13, competing in both the men’s long jump and high jump competitions. McBride won the 2014 NCAA title in the high jump with a then-personal best clearance of 2.28m (7-5.75).
“It’s obviously a neat award for Bryan, much deserved, especially when you look at all the athletes on the west coast and in the Pac-12 Conference in particular,” Director of Track and Field Greg Kraft said.
