Spencer Torkelson struck out in the ninth inning Saturday night with a chance to be the hero for Arizona State baseball.
The sophomore didn’t make the same mistake in his next chance.
Instead, Torkelson slammed a two-out, three-run homer to left in the 11th inning at Phoenix Municipal Stadium for an 8-5 walk-off win over Michigan State.
“His fastball and curve ball were coming out of the same arm slot so it was tough to pick up the pitch,” Torkelson said of left-handed reliever Mitchell Tyranski. “I told myself to relax and trust my eyes.
