TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State track and field’s redshirt senior high jumper Bryan McBride was named the Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his school record-breaking performance at the Duel In The Desert, the conference announced on Monday.
A native of Peoria, Ariz., McBride broke the 38-year-old record on Saturday as he cleared 2.30m (7-6.50) in the final home meet of his Sun Devil career. The defending NCAA Outdoor Champion in the event made the bar on his second attempt, and decided to close out his day with the make. Kyle Arney set the original record in 1977 at 2.
