There was more at stake for Arizona State football than simply state pride in the 2015 Territorial Cup.
ASU (5-5) needed a win in one of its final two games — against Arizona or at California — to become bowl eligible in a season that took a downward turn with three straight losses (one in triple overtime) to start the second half.
Arizona (6-5) already was bowl eligible going into the rivalry game, its regular season finale, at Sun Devil Stadium. And the Wildcats were coming off a double-overtime upset of No. 10 Utah to end a three-game losing streak.
