But the Sun Devils went into the Territorial Cup at Sun Devil Stadium on a four-game win streak and carrying bowl hopes if they end could end a two-year losing streak vs. the Wildcats for a seventh win.
All was merry and bright for ASU midway through the fourth quarter, leading by 14 points. But UA scored the final 17 points including a game-winning 36-yard field goal with 22 seconds left for a 31-28 win, extending the Sun Devils' postseason-less streak to eight years.
