TEMPE, Ariz, - The Arizona State volleyball team (2-0) opened their 2018 campaign with wins over the UT Arlington Mavericks (0-1) and the New Mexico State Aggies (1-1) at Wells Fargo Arena Friday in the opening day of the Sun Devil Volleyball Classic.
"This morning we broke the ice," said redshirt freshman Danica Krstonošic. "We came ready in the afternoon and the crowd was awesome and they got us moving too."
The Sun Devils opened their day in a matchup against UT Arlington, defeating the Mavericks in four sets, 25-17, 25-20, 22-25, 25-13. Sophomore transfer Claire Kovensky led the way for the Sun Devils in her first outing in the maroon and gold, recording a double-double with 15 kills and a career high 17 assists.
