TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State track and field’s junior Keyasia Tibbs broke the 16-year-old school record in the triple jump with a best mark of 12.96m (42-06.25) on Saturday at the 37th Sun Angel Track Classic at Sun Angel Stadium.
The previous best, set by Valerie Williams, was 12.84m (41-01.50), in 2000.
“I think one of the things that is really important to us, as the state university of Arizona, is to really showcase our sport,” Director of Track and Field Greg Kraft said. “It’s always exciting to have the high school student athletes here with the professional athletes, but I think the star of the meet is probably the little boy in the Bantam 100m who couldn’t be more than three feet tall.
