TEMPE – Sun Devil Football (1-1) was unable to orchestrate a fourth-quarter comeback as Oklahoma State's (2-0) 17-point second half prevailed the Cowboys to a 27-15 victory Saturday night at Mountain American Stadium.
The strong-willed Cowboy defense left the Sun Devils stagnant for the majority of the second half, forcing a turnover and three fourth-down stops to shut out ASU in the last 30 minutes of the game.
"At the end of the day, we got to be more consistent in the second half. We didn't put together a drive and you're not going to win many football games when you're not converting third-and-1's and fourth-and-1's," head coach Kenny Dillingham said, "We were getting into manageable down-and-distances and then we weren't getting the job done and we have to do a better job as a staff, putting our players in the best position to be successful.
