It may have been a warm one today in the desert, but that didn’t stop the Sun Devil Football team from taking to the field at Sun Devil Stadium for the first time this season.
No, it wasn’t a game or any event that could mimic 60,000 screaming fans or a opportunity to hit a team without a Pitchfork on the helmets, but it was a chance to get to work within the confines of the home turf – and to get used to some of the heat that a September kickoff might provide.
The Sun Devils ran a full 11-on-11 practice throughout Wednesday’s effort and while Coach Graham said afterwards that it was hard to get a realistic game day experience with the offense and defense working from separate sidelines, he was excited to see how well-maintained the field was under the direction of Athletics Grounds Facilities Manager Brian Johnson in addition to seeing how the inside of the stadium has come along.
