SALT LAKE CITY – A five-run sixth inning created the separation needed for Sun Devil Softball to down Utah 7-2 on Friday evening in the first of three games between the teams this weekend.
Arizona State (29-14, 9-7 Big 12) took a lead on an RBI single from in the second inning, only to see Utah (12-28, 4-9) counter with two runs in the bottom of the frame. ASU quickly pulled even in the third when drove home a run with a groundout.
Pitching took over until the sixth when the Sun Devils broke through to take the lead back.
