TEMPE, Ariz. – This week, the USGA will hold the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill., marking the first time such competition has been held on the women's side.
Joanne Gunderson Carner, Arizona State's first-ever individual national champion in 1960, has been bestowed the honor of hitting the opening shot of the tournament on July 12 at 7 am ET. She is the only player to ever win the U.S. Girls' Junior, U.S. Women's Amateur, and U.S. Women's Open titles.
