AUSTIN, Texas – Cierra Runge represented the first All-American this week for Sun Devil women's swimming, racing to a fourth-place finish in the championship heat of the 500 freestyle. The finish came just hours after she set the Arizona State record in the preliminary round.
Runge entered the evening session as the No. 1 seed after touching the wall at a school record of 4:34.64 to take the top mark in the preliminary round. The junior put up a time of 4:35.39 in the finals to score 15 points for the Sun Devils.
Fanny Teijonsalo and Emma Nordin also secured first alternate spots after placing 17th in the 50 free and 500 free, respectively.
