Phase II of the reconstruction of Sun Devil Stadium began after last season's final home game in November. Over the next month, it will continue, all the way through Arizona State's season opener Sept. 3 and on through the Sun Devils' home contest against Texas Tech the following week.
But that won't stop it from hosting football, ASU Vice President of Athletics Ray Anderson said Tuesday.
"We're going to kick off on Sept. 3,'' Anderson said during a media tour of the renovated facility, "and while we're going to have some things left to be done, we will have a field, we will have seats, we will have safe entrances and exits, we will have restrooms, concessions, and actually, if you feel it up here now, I'm very convinced that we're going to have ventilation and a breeze that people aren't used to on a warm evening.
