Quick Start Sends Baseball To 6-3 Win In Series Opener

PHOENIX – Fifth-ranked Sun Devil Baseball jumped out to a five-run lead through the first two innings and never trailed in a 6-3 win against Tennessee Tech on Friday night at Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Phoenix.

Starting right-hander Seth Martinez (2-0) allowed just one hit through the first four innings and retired eight in a row at one point to earn his second win of the season. He stuck out six and allowed three runs, including just one earned, on five hits and a walk in five innings.

Shortstop Colby Woodmansee drove in three runs on three singles, including one in each of the first two innings, and center fielder Johnny Sewald and second baseman Andrew Snow each tallied a pair of hits for the Sun Devils (27-11).
