TEMPE, Ariz. -- Greg Powers is taking a patient approach to the Sun Devils' first year of Division I hockey.
"We're really focused on the process more than the result," Arizona State's coach said. "We're doing that so we can get the results a couple years down the road."
Powers' forward-thinking plan touches all parts of the program but is most evident in two startling statistics. After Tuesday's NCAA action, the Sun Devils are second in the nation in points by freshmen with 55 -- one behind Boston College -- and first in freshman points per game at 5.
