Angelo Richardson was never able to accomplish his dream of being a star wide receiver at Arizona State University and then the NFL.
Instead, on Wednesday, Richardson crossed the stage in his wheelchair at Comerica Theatre to receive his ASU master’s degree in Sports Law and Business, the precursor for what could be a career representing NFL athletes.
It’s been 11 years since Richardson was a random shooting victim in San Francisco, the effects of which left him paralyzed from the waist down. A month earlier, he had signed to play football at ASU as a transfer from Santa Rosa Junior College, where he had been the national JC leader in receptions, yards and touchdowns in 2005.
