Stanford (6-2, 5-1 Pac-12) was the unquestioned favorite coming into Corvallis and for good reason. The Cardinal have a top-20 offense led by running back Bryce Love, who is the No. 1 rusher in the country. However, Love did not play for Stanford due to an ankle injury and Oregon State (1-7, 0-6 Pac-12) took advantage of his absence. The Beavers held the Cardinal to 81 rushing yards and quarterback Keller Chryst only threw for 141 yards, one touchdown and an interception. What killed the Beavers Thursday night was turnovers. Oregon State had the ball five minutes and 32 seconds longer than Stanford, but they turned the ball over three times compared to Stanford’s one and turned out to be the difference in the game, as Stanford was able to drive down the field and score with less than a minute left and score the game winning touchdown.
