TEMPE, Ariz. -- Nobody knows more about the Sun Devil men's ice hockey program than eighth-year coach Greg Powers, but when Vice President for University Athletics Ray Anderson announced that the program would make the leap from club to NCAA Division I status this season, Powers wasn't above seeking advice from those who had been through the process.
One of the first men to offer his expertise was Mike Kemp, an associate athletic director at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, the Sun Devils' opponent this weekend for a two-game road series at Baxter Arena. Kemp helped launch the Mavericks’ hockey program in 1997 and was its coach for 12 years.
