KAZAN, Russia – Junior swimmer Anna Olasz solidified herself as one of the top distance swimmers in the world, finishing in second place in the women’s 25K Open Water Final at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Olasz, a native of Hungary and winner the European Open Water Cup in 2013, finished the course in 5:14:13.4 (5 hours, 14 minutes), just 26 seconds behind Brazil’s Ana Marcela Cunha. A 25K event is equal to 15.53 miles of swimming in an open body of water, like a lake or ocean.
Also representing the Sun Devils was sophomore diver Mara Aiacoboae, competing for her home country of Romania, who finished 19th overall in the women’s 10-meter platform dive with a score of 306.
