If Arizona State football is able to pull out a winning season, requiring winning five of seven games after this bye week, it will be accomplished in part by saddling up and riding sophomore wide receiver N'Keal Harry.
Offensive coordinator Billy Napier said Wednesday that his nickname for Harry is Secretariat, as in the 1973 Triple Crown champion, considered one of horse racing's greatest performers.
Harry is averaging 95.2 yards receiving per game, and is 17th nationally in receiving yards (476). He's become ASU's new threat from the Sparky formation, taking a direct snap with options of running or throwing, like he did last week against Stanford for a 14-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ceejhay French-Love.
