Obinna translates from Nigerian into English as "father's heart." Or "God's heart" as Obinna Oleka thinks of it.
So, when Bobby Hurley, newly hired as the Arizona State basketball coach in spring 2015, made a recruiting call to Oleka, Obinna immediately thought of his aunt, Felicia Eleke, who had been praying for a year for him to play for ASU, close to her East Valley home.
"I used to tell her all the time, 'They didn't offer me. I'm not going there. Why are you saying that?'" recalled Oleka, who lived with his aunt for a time after leaving junior college in Florida.
