The Spencer Torkelson walk parade continued Tuesday night and again No. 8 Arizona State made the strategy backfire.
New Mexico State baseball chose to walk Torkelson five times, three intentionally, Tuesday night. The last came in the 10th inning at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, loading the bases with one out.
Alex Reyes followed by walking Trevor Hauver on five pitches for literally a walk-off 6-5 ASU win.
Torkelson’s five walks tied a school record held by three others including Kole Calhoun and Alvin Davis. The junior first baseman, projected as the No. 1 pick in the major league draft, has been walked 18 times in nine games.
