TUCSON –Arizona State baseball needed a lot to go right Tuesday night to win a mid-week game with limited pitching options against No. 22 Arizona, fourth nationally in scoring.
Instead, the Sun Devils were without two starters – shortstop Drew Swift and catcher Sam Ferri – due to illness and had limited success from any of their eight pitchers in a 14-2 loss at Hi Corbett Field. Christian Bodlovich (0-1) took the loss.
UA (19-8) had five consecutive multi-run innings from the third through the seventh, erasing an early 2-0 deficit. The Wildcats scored 14 even while leaving 14 on base including the bases loaded three times.
