No. 21 Arizona baseball overcame three deficits Friday night to win 7-6 over Arizona State, clinching a win in the Pac-12 rivalry series.
ASU led 3-0 in the first, 4-3 in the fifth and 6-4 in the seventh before the Wildcats scored three runs in the eighth at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
UA’s Ryan Holgate and Donta Williams homered in the third and fourth off ASU starting pitcher Tyler Thornton, erasing the Sun Devils’ first lead. Tanner O’Tremba’s unusual inside-the-park homer in the sixth tied the game at four.
Graham Osman (1-2) was asked to pitch 2 1/3 innings late in the game including to five batters in the eighth when the Sun Devils did not have another left-hander available in the bullpen.
