Arizona State basketball has reached new heights all season, but Thursday night, for a brief stretch, the Sun Devils took it even higher.
For most of the first half, Wells Fargo Arena felt different. It looked different. Sounded different. This was new territory for ASU basketball.
Former standout and Houston Rockets star James Harden sat courtside. Suns guard Devin Booker also was on hand, as well as Gov. Doug Ducey. The contest wasn’t sold out, but it was close.
Consider this for a second: There were times four or five years ago when then-coach Herb Sendek would turn to fans and urge them to get excited during key parts of the contest.
