BERKELEY – Sun Devil Baseball battled punch-for-punch in the rubber match in the series against Cal, finally erupting for a nine-run eighth inning to take its first lead of the game and blow things open en route to a 15-10 series-clinching victory.
ASU (19-9, 7-2 Pac-12) erupted for 19 hits on the afternoon with all nine players in the lineup recording at least one RBI. Thrice ASU went behind by three runs, responding each time with two immediate runs to keep within striking distance.
Nu'u Contrades continued his unreal tear, going 4-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
