Brian Merritt got his start in college basketball in a Toyota van he drove from camp to camp across the Midwest and up and down the East Coast. He put 330,000 miles on that baby, giving rides to players and instructors such as Carmelo Anthony, Clark Kellogg and big DeSagana Diop, for whom Merritt had to put down the van's seats to better accommodate the center's 7-foot frame.
Throughout the process, Merritt got the nickname "Mr. Everything," because that's what he did, whatever was asked, no task too big or small. Merritt insists some coaches and players simply know him by that nickname and nothing else.
