More relaxed ASU women's basketball team rebounds to beat Washington State

Rather than tightening up after a 35-point game Friday, Arizona State women's basketball went the other direction Sunday.

The Sun Devils talked out their nerves in between, finding a way to play looser against Washington State at Desert Financial Arena. They broke a four-game Pac-12 losing streak with a 67-61 win and perhaps breathed some life back into their postseason chances with three or maybe four (contingent on rescheduling options) regular season games remaining.

"It didn't make sense how tense everybody was," in a 50-35 loss to Washington, ASU coach Charli Turner Thorne said. "It turns out people were pressing and being too hard on themselves and too focused on results.
