It’s not often you see a palm tree through a glass backboard. Or cars slowing on a nearby street so passengers can catch a glimpse of what’s going on. But so it went at Friday night’s Mill Madness, a preseason outdoors event showcasing the Arizona State men’s and women’s basketball teams
Even though it’s just the second year, this is a good tradition. College basketball is always a difficult sell in this part of the desert, especially the night before the football team hosts the nation’s No. 4 team just blocks away at Sun Devil Stadium.
“It definitely kind of jump starts basketball," ASU women's coach Charli Turner-Thorne said.
