Maroon Madness Sweet 16: No. 2 Jake Plummer vs. No. 3 Eric Allen

Before moving onto the Sweet 16 round of Maroon Madness, quarterback Jake Plummer avoided any potential upset from Sun Devil baseball star Eric Sogard with a 92 percent of the vote victory. Maroon and gold defensive back Eric Allen didn’t crush his first round opponent in PGA star Paul Casey by the amount Plummer did, but won by a convincing 77 to 23 percent outcome. These two players each appeared in a Rose Bowl game for the Sun Devils on different sides of the gridiron.

In his final year as a Sun Devil in 1996, Plummer helped guide Arizona State to an undefeated regular season before falling to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
