LAS VEGAS — Few people will turn down the chance to spend a week in Las Vegas, so it might seem like a desirable location for a college bowl game. However, the college football game being held there doesn't fit into the high-profile category — at least not yet.
The Las Vegas Bowl dates back to 1992 and this year's contest features Arizona State (7-5) and No. 21 Fresno State (11-1) at Sam Boyd Stadium. It will be one of five bowl games on Saturday, kicking off the bowl season.
The perception is that the earlier the bowl, the lower the profile game it is, but that could be changing.
