COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Sun Devil Hockey forward Kyle Smolen was named NCHC Forward of the Week after tallying three points against then-No. 3 Western Michigan last weekend, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Smolen scored two goals, one on each night of the series versus the Broncos. He topped off the weekend with an assist on Ty Jackson's game-winning goal on Friday night.
This is the first time Smolen has won the weekly honor.
Smolen propelled the Sun Devils to a 5-3 victory over the Broncos, setting up Jackson's game-winning goal and adding his own empty-net goal off a nifty faceoff win the ASU defensive zone.
