FUKUOKA, Japan-- Incoming sophomore Hubert Kós is a World champion in the 200m backstroke swimming a time of 1:54.14. Kós joins Léon Marchand as the second Sun Devil to win a World championship this week as he wins his first World Championship medal.
Kós became the first swimmer from Hungary to win this event since 1975 and his time is a Hungarian record. Kós also set a record for his home country in the 100m back as he swam a 53.12 earlier this week.
In his freshman season, Kós was third in the 200m back at the NCAA Championships and fourth at Pac-12s helping the Sun Devil Men win their first conference title in program history.
