Ava Jones, a 6-2 sohomore post from Nickerson, Kansas, is the first commitment for Arizona State women's basketball in the class of 2023.
Jones chose ASU over her over finalists Clemson, Drake, Iowa State, Nebraska, West Virginia and Wichita State. She will officially sign in November 2022 and start at ASU in 2023-24.
Jones is averaging 20-plus points and 10 rebounds for Nickerson High School, located in a small town of 1,000.
ASU incoming signees for 2021-22 are Meg Newman, a nationally ranked post from Indiana, and Australian guard Jade Melbourne, who already has played in the professional WNBL.
