Former Arizona State goaltender Joey Daccord made his NHL debut on Thursday with the Ottawa Senators, losing 5-2 to the Buffalo Sabres.
Daccord recorded 35 saves and an .875 save percentage. This performance came three days after signing his entry-level contract with the Senators, making him the first ASU hockey player in the NHL.
The 22-year-old is a finalist for the Mike Richter Award, given to the top goalie in the NCAA. His seven shutouts are the best in that category, and he also registered a .926 save percentage and a 2.35 goals against average.
