NEW YORK — The box arrived at Jake Plummer’s house in Boulder, Colo., as last Christmas approached. He put it aside. Figured it was just another holiday package. But when he finally opened it a couple of days later and began reading the letter inside, tears filled his eyes.
“Are you OK?” his son, Roland, asked.
“Yeah,” Plummer said. “I just got into the Hall of Fame.”
That would be the College Football Hall of Fame.
“Jake the Snake” was one of Arizona State’s greats. He started 40 straight games at quarterback, beginning during his freshman year of 1993 and ending in the Rose Bowl on Jan.
